Put a lid on it

February 1, 2010

There are some good reasons not to use plastic wrap including concerns about BPAs leaching into your food and the environmental damage caused by the use of disposable plastics.

Here is an easy tip — when you have a bowl of food to refridgerate cover it with a plate or another bowl.   Its much easier than struggling with the sticky plastic film that always wants to stick to itself more than to any other surface!

As with previous innBrooklyn tips you can “go green” without it costing anything (you’ll actually be saving money instead!)

another tip for saving food… save the sturdy bags from inside
the cereal box, they will help keep your leftovers really fresh. But
don’t forget to open them carefully when you first start the cereal,
    so they don’t rip!

Thanks for the tip: we love any way to get some good use out of something that was designed with only one use and a short life!

Yeah, great advice unless you have an a crafty animal in your house. Our psychotic cat leapt onto the counter while we were out and made quick work of the plate covering the bowl of chopmeat and peas that was lunch. Next time we should “plate it” and put it in the fridge I guess huh?
